This programme contains six films that capture Londons Docklands in all their glory from the 1920メs to the 1950メs.ムThe Royal Riverメ is a short colour film made by the Port of London Authority and provides a rare film record of the Thames preparing for the Coronation in 1953. It includes decorations on the river and foreign dignitaries arriving by boat. ムCoronation Dayメ is a brief account of the Queens Coronation and the Queen and Prince Philip boarding the Royal Barge with liveried Thames Watermen at Greenwich Pier. ムRoyal Visit 1959メ. On May 12th 1959 the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh toured the PLAメs Head Offices in Tower Hill and then went on to inspect Londons Docklands. This rare silent film chronicles this historic occasion. ムThames Tidewayメ was filmed in the late 1940メs and is a rare black and white film which follows the cargo passenger lines Port Lyttleton out of New Zealand as it first discharges its passengers at Tilbury and then passes through the King George v lock to unload its cargo in the Royal Docks. ムPort of London 1929メ is a fully captioned silent film showing Londons dock system in all their glory. With aerial film of the Royal Docks and a wonderful array of ships on display.
